Texas Food Stamp Payment Dates for April 2025: When Will You Get Your Benefits?

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, gives help to people who don't have enough money to buy all the food they need. This program adds money to a Lone Star card for Texans (or EBT card in other states), and you can use it like a debit card at stores that accept it for buying food.

To qualify for SNAP, you usually need to be in a low-income household. Adults between 18 to 52 without kids can get benefits for short periods, but if you're working at least 20 hours a week or are in some training programs, you might get more help.

People with disabilities or pregnant women, and others with special circumstances, can also get benefits.

In Texas, homes with only seniors (60+) or people with disabilities can get into a special project called the Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP). This project makes applying easier and offers three years of benefits at a time for those who qualify, rather than the usual six months.

For others between 16 to 59 years, to keep getting SNAP benefits, there are some work-related rules.

When do you get SNAP benefits in Texas?

In Texas, the money gets put on your Lone Star card on certain days within the first 15 days of every month, depending on the last number of your Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number:

  • EDG ending in 0: 1st of the month
  • EDG ending in 1: 3rd of the month
  • EDG ending in 2: 5th of the month
  • EDG ending in 3: 6th of the month
  • EDG ending in 4: 7th of the month
  • EDG ending in 5: 9th of the month
  • EDG ending in 6: 11th of the month
  • EDG ending in 7: 12th of the month
  • EDG ending in 8: 13th of the month
  • EDG ending in 9: 15th of the month

You can find out exactly when you'll get your benefits by looking at your award letter from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
